Course Description


The complex privacy requirements of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) has broad application for many health plans, service providers, and human resources professionals as these rules create significant limitations in the way that certain health information is maintained and transferred. HR professionals, including in-house HR personnel, consultants, advisors, service providers, and administrators need to learn the various requirements in order to ensure compliance.
 
The HIPAA Privacy Training & Certification Program covers both the basics and the detailed rules for the use and disclosure of information. The Program includes the notice requirement rules and administrative tips to help with compliance. Numerous examples help provide valuable insight into the nuances of the rules.

Outcome

Besides the basics, you will also learn how to:

  • Identify the types of Protected Health Information (PHI) that are subject to HIPAA rules
  • Determine which entities are and are not covered by HIPAA rules
  • Recognize proper and improper uses and disclosure of PHI for treatment, payment, health care operations, and other activities
  • Understand how to comply with HIPAA requirements for proper privacy notices

Assessment

This course contains numerous End Of Lesson Quizzes to help you measure your progress and mastery of the materials. You can also earn a "Certified HIPAA Privacy Administrator" designation!

Successful completion of the "Certified HIPAA Privacy Administrator" test! Certification tests are comprised of 50 randomly-generated questions that are mostly multiple choice, scenario-based questions that test the students ability to apply the learned content.

A score of 85 or higher is required to earn a Certification.
